Shaping tool for cable end with sleeve - produces flat surface and has die with recessed and rounded sections

A cable end shaping tool which will fit a sleeve around the end and then produce a flat surface. Such sleeved cables are used in railways where the neutral cable must have a flat section to be welded to the rail. The tool is portable and easy to transport with cable and cable sleeves to desired position. The tool consists of a base plate (1) with two vertical side walls (2, 3) joined by a cross piece (4). The base plate forms a die (5). The die has a recessed (6) and a rounded section (7). The cable and the sleeve is placed in the die and the press moved over the cable in the longitudinal direction. The press is roller shaped.
