Shock absorbers for coke oven battery - fitted between vertical carrier walls and underside of oven carrier slabs

Vertical carrier walls, made of reinforced concrete, parallel to the longitudinal centre line of a coke oven battery carry segmental oven carrier slabs with expansion joints between them. Each slab has stubs on the underside which fit into a recess of the carrier wall between two damping absorbers. Similar pairs of absorbers are fitted between angles on the slab underside and the tops of the carrier walls in the other direction. This protects the whole structure against shocks which may be caused by earthquake tremors. The absorbers are simple to attach to the structure described in the parent patent.
