Dental prosthesis consists of a base plate in which are inserted teeth of plastic material, partic. methacrylic acid ester copolymer. The whole prosthesis, except for the sides of the base plate adjacent to the jaw and the gum, is coated with a colourless transparent layer of methacrylic acid ester copolymer which fills even the gaps between teeth. Application of the coating to the finished prosthesis is performed by the technician by conventional methods. In this way, prostheses which have already been worn can be reinforced subsequently and improved. The prosthesis has improved chewing action, better cleaning of food residues, higher resistance to breaking and cracking, better biting action of the incisors and action of the molars, and the same appearance as natural teeth moistened with saliva.
