A simple water level monitor consists of a small float, a switch, battery and buzzer, which triggers the buzzer at a predetermined water level in a bath, domestic aquarium or other vessel. The device can save water. The monitor is mounted in a cylindrical case (10) in which a lower chamber accessible to the water contains a float (15) switch (13) and switch actuator (14). An upper chamber contains a battery (12) and buzzer (11) and the whole device is clamped to the side of the vessel concerned (20) by means of a rubber suction clamp (25) so that a predetermined water device triggers the buzzer (11).
