<p>The antenna mast is designed to be cheaper than the usual steel type, to be free from corrosion and not to be effected by icing. It is made of reinforced concrete, in the form of a hollow unit which is very long in proportion to its dia. It is braced by cables. It can have a welded reinforcement serving as antenna. The antenna can also be in the form of a conductor drawn into its hollow cross-section; or a metal network, or wires on the sheath, or a sheat made of metal. Insulation can be provided at the base and on the bracing cables. It can be of constant cross-section over a height of 350 m or more.</p> |
