Split cover for freezer chest - has two overlapping panels sealed at overlap and on stepped chest edge

The split cover for top access to freezers rest on a stepped edge. The freezer cover is not rotated on hinges and the freezer is opened by relative sliding of the split cover. Both cover parts (4, 5) overlap when the freezer is closed. The covers have raised edges which come into sealed contact when the cover is closed and the edges overlap. The lower cover part rests on the freezer trough edge step (3). The upper cover edges rest also on the freezer trough edges. Only a simple circumferential step is required on trough upper edge and hence conventional housings can be used.
