The frame is for the mounting of a crane at the rear end of a short-wheelbase vehicle, comprising a cross-member and lengthwise girders protruding to the sides of it. The crane column carrying the jib is mounted on the cross-member, whose girders are supported on the vehicle. The girders are divided into sections, those fixed to the vehicle (4, 4a) forming sockets into which the others (3, 3a) protruding from the cross-member (2) fit. There can be detachable locking devices between the sections, typically pins fitting through them in the transverse direction. The girder sections fitting together can also be slightly tapered.
