The engine, pump or motor with internally meshing lobes comprises a rotor (14) with n lobes (15) having continuous sealing engagement with the internal surface of a housing (20) having n+1 lobes. The rotor has, between any two lobes, a medial section (17) which during orbiting of the rotor periodically makes sealing engagement with the housing surface. The rotor has, between each medial section and each of the adjacent lobes, a connection section (19) which does not engage the housing surface. This approaches the characteristics of a constant vol. cycle and is suitable for an engine of the Stirling type.
