<p>The seal (7) is in the form of a ring (7a) having the same internal diameter as the inner pipe and clamped between flanges at a joint. At several points around the ring, are radial projections, each of which forms a closed duct (7c) for the transmission of the second fluid across the flange joint. Each of the ducts is connected to the main central ring by a thinner portion of material (7b), so that if there should be a leak of either fluid, it passes to the radial transfer ducts (18) and can be drawn off. Additional sealing material may be bonded to the ring faces and the latter may be ridged to increase pressure along the contact lines.</p> |
