Automatic brake control for train - has variable proportional amplifier to control extra braking and stop train at set point on track

The automatic brake control for the train has a programmed parabolic braking curve which stops the train at a selected point on the track. The actual speed and braking force are constantly compared with the programmed curve to generate correction signals for the braking. The correction control circuit has a variable gain proportional amplifier which increases its gain as the set point is reached. The lower gain at the higher speeds ensures a smooth braking control with a min. of hunting about the programmed curve. The braking control is suitable for goods trains in which the brake response time is slow, esp. when most of the braking comes from the engine.
