Drive arm for windscreen wiper - has adjustable two part construction to alter arm length and compensate for linkage play

The drive shaft (11) of the windscreen wiper linkage is coupled to the wipers by a two part drive arm (20, 21). One part is bolted to the drive shaft, and other part is connected to the linkage by a ball and socket joint (13). The two parts are adjustable w.r.t. each other to alter the arm length so that the sweep angle of the wipers can be accurately set. The first part of the arm (20) is located on the threaded end (19) of the drive shaft by conical interlocking shoulders (17) complete with serrations. The second part of the arm (21) is set over the first part by a slot coupling (32) and with interlocking grooves (26) on the mating surfaces preventing any drive slack.
