This clinical thermometer with an electrical temperature-measuring element, an evaluation and display device and a battery supply is configured as a structural unit and approximately corresponds in shape and size to the conventional clinical thermometer and has a spherical thickened part (1a) in which the temperature-measuring element is contained. Use is made either of a LCD display or a LED display as a temperature display device. By quantizing the measurement range into at most 60 individual steps, it is possible for the electronic evaluation circuit to be configured in a particularly economic way; a nonflammable plastic of high impact resistance is provided as the housing material. <IMAGE>
