<p>The starter and supply circuit, for a fluorescent lamp, drives the lamp directly from the AC mains when the mains supply is operating correctly and from a reserve DC voltage when the mains fails. The DC voltage is stepped up to exceed the lamp's discharging voltage. A reserve battery is charged from the mains via a rectifier. When the mains fails the battery is coupled via a static inverter, a current stabiliser and a second rectifier to the lamp. Amongst the many advantages gas are: efficient use of battery power, short and few connection lines, no loss due to inductive ballast circuits etc.</p> |
