Protective dome roof for optical instrument - has sections sealed on base ring on circular strip foundation by inflatable tubes

The domed roof, for protection of optical or other sensitive instruments, is made up from relatively movable shell units, with surfaces forming parts of spheres of slightly varying diameter. These are mounted on running-rollers, on rail circles on a circular strip base. The whole dome is formed solely by two shell units corresponding to a quarter sphere shell, and is sealed relative to a floor ring on the strip base. - The dome can be sealed relative to the floor ring (32), which is fixed on the strip base (11), by means of two inflatable tubes (34, 35). The area of overlap formed by the two shell units may also be sealed by an inflatable tube, and the tubes are pref. made of rubber or elastic plastics.
