1509010 Machining guards; belt/chain gearing CONVEYORS (YORKSHIRE) Ltd 7 Oct 1976 [12 July 1975] 29361/75 Headings F2J and F2Q A self-contained power transmission unitary assembly, for simple ready keyed attachment to a machine shaft 15 to be driven, comprises a split guard casing 1, 2 which houses a transmission belt or chain 13 the driving pulley or sprocket 10 of which is fast on the output shaft 9 of a motor 5, and the driven pulley or sprocket 11 of which is secured on a hollow hub 12 rotatably mounted at each end in bearings 14 in the guard casing halves 1, 2, the hub 12 being a ready sliding keyed fit on the machine shaft 15 for rotary drive thereof. After the simple installation of the unitary drive assembly on the machine shaft 5, a bracing i.e. reaction strut 16 is connected between a paint 17, 18 on the guard casing 1, 2 and a convenient anchorage point on the frame of the machine, of which the shaft 5 forms a part, to station the unitary assembly during drive. The motor 5 is adjustably secured to the guard casing 1, 2 by a plate 6 having elongated slots 7 thereon engaged with clamping studs 8 whereby the belt or chain, tension may be readily adjusted.
