1508379 Transferring mechanism SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 27 Aug 1976 [27 May 1975] 23100/75 Heading G4D In a transferring mechanism of the Geneva type in which the lower wheel has two abutments 37, 38 formed adjacent a gap 36 in a locking ring and a transfer pinion has alternately long and short teeth, only the leading abutment 37 projects axially beyond the locking ring to engage with the short teeth of the pinion. The arrangement is employed in a trip and total odometer to prevent falsification. It prevents either counter being wound backwards because the transfer jams and it prevents the resettable trip counter being jammed and therefore stalling the drive to the total counter.
