1382066 Coating with silver LONDON LABORATORIES Ltd CO 15 Dec 1971 [16 Dec 1970] 58263/71 Heading C7F An electroless silver plating solution comprises an aqueous solution of a silver compound, preferably ammoniacal silver nitrate, a strong base, e.g. NaOH, and a reducing agent selected from an aldonic acid having 4-6C atoms, or a salt or lactone of said aldonic acid, preferably glucono delta lactone. The pH of the solution is at least 12. The ingredients are in the form of two or three separate solutions which are admixed just before plating, e.g. one solution may be of the reducing agent and the other of NaOH, AgNO 3 and NH 3 . The molar ratios of reducing agent: strong base: Ag compound is approximately 1:1:1 to 2:1:1. If desired, other reducing agents may also be employed e.g. carbohydrates. |
