KOGYO KK 24 Dec 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 55843/74 Heading E2S In an interlocking fastener element 10 for a sliding clasp fastener the element is formed from a single filament into a row of interconnected clasps, each clasp, other than an end clasp, comprising a coupling head 15 and two legs 16, 17 extending from opposite sides of the coupling head 15, each said leg 16, 17 being formed from two closely side-by-side pieces of element 11, 11, the end remote from the coupling head 15 of one of the legs 16 having a fold 13 where the two pieces of said one leg 16 are integrally joined together, and the end remote from the coupling head 15 of the other leg 17 having two extensions 14 integrally joining the respective clasp to adjacent clasps on either side thereof. As shown the filamentary element 10, made of plastics or metal, is initially formed with a plurality of projections 11 each of which has a fold 13, juxtaposed filament sections 11 which are flattened centrally to form a coupling head 15, and a connecting portion 14. Each projection 11 is bent into a U-shape about its coupling head 15 to provide a clasp with an upper leg 16 which is free at the folded end 13, and a lower leg 17, the clasps being interconnected by the portions 14 to form a substantially ladder-like fastener element structure E, Fig. 2. The element E is sewn to a tape (T), Figs. 3, 4 not shown, by sewn stitches (S) with the upper and lower legs (16, 17) astride a longitudinal edge of the tape. In a modification, Fig. 6, each fold 13 is flattened at 18 and fused, or welded, to the tape T. In a further modification, Fig. 7, the lower leg 17 of each clasp is offset towards the upper leg 16 so that the element E can be mounted on one surface of the tape T. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 8 not shown, each coupling head (15) is separated by a line which extends centrally between the folded legs (16, 17).</p> |
