<p>1501494 Variable speed ratchet gear; eccentrics F RIEDL 19 May 1975 [21 May 1974] 21340/75 Headings F2D and F2K A steplessly variable ratio ratchet gear, for a motor vehicle or bobbin winder, comprises, freely mounted on 180 degree phased eccentrics 18, 19 on an input shaft 1, two eccentric sheaves, one, 17, acting, with a ring 24, only as a counterbalance mass, the other, 15, carrying on a ballbearing 20 a ring 25 oscillating crank arms 21, which, through one-way clutches 23 and meshed wheels 30, 29<SP>1</SP>, drive a final output shaft 29 at a speed dependent on the throw of the eccentric sheaves 15, 17, which is varied as follows. A hollow cylindrical body 9, freely mounted on the input shaft 1, has a closure plate 12 with slots 10, 11, 180 degrees apart, receiving respectively cam projections 14, 16 on the sheaves 15, 17, so arranged that by turning the body 9 through 180 degrees on the input shaft 1, the sheaves 15, 17 are also turned through 180 degrees but in opposite directions. The body 9 is turned on the input shaft 1 by axially sliding a collar 36 along a quick-pitch screw-thread 37 on the shaft, the collar 36 being connected by axially slidable pins 35 to the body 9 for relative axial movement only. In Fig. 1 the collar 36 is directly actuated by a lever 39, whilst in Fig. 2 (not shown), the collar 36 is actuated by a further collar (42) axially located on its periphery in a ball-bearing; prevented from rotation by fixed axial guide pins (44) on the casing; and having an external screw-thread screwing in an axially fixed bevel gear (43) turned by a controlled bevel pinion (47).</p> |
