<p>A load handling hook for lifting gear has a curved arm(2) with a forked end with a hole through the two arms of the fork for a spindle(3) acting as a hinge pin. This arm is connected to another portion(1) which completes the loop holding the load, by the spindle. The second portion also has the hole for the lifting hook. The part of the second portion over which the forked end fits, has a keyhole shaped hole, and the spindle has two flats on its, so that it can slide. The second portion also has a hole in line with the spindle, containing a spring loaded pin(4, 5) secured by a nut(6). This enables the hook to be opened with one hand by swinging the two portions apart. It can then be closed automatically.</p> |
