The ball joint consists of a spherical end (1) to a shaft (2). The ball is encased in a cushion element made in two halves (5') and (4') which cover the ball and are divided along a cross diameter of the ball. The cushion element is encased in a cage also made up of two halves. The lower half of the cage (3) is opened in the centre to allow movment of the ball and has an outer flange. The upper half of the cage is similarly flanged to match that of that lower half.
