Elbows for thin walled pipes are made from metal strip (5) which is continuously fed between rollers (30) and pushed under a forming tool (21). The strip (5) is pressed to a semi-cylindrical form and then passed onto the bending die (1) which bends the strip through the required angle of 60 deg. or 90 deg. The strip is bent by the die block (1) being rotated by the jack (15) and links (10, 14). A shear blade (8 cuts the half shell which has been formed from the strip. A matching half sheel is made by a similar process and the two half shells are then soldered or welded together. The process can be used for elbows in any sort of metal for thin walled pipes such as drain pipes and air conditioning ducts.
|
