A float is immersed in the liquid layer of smaller specific gravity than the rest of the liquid. It is equipped with a riser pipe designed as a scale and introduced into the liquid of higher specific gravity. At the lower opening of the riser pipe there is a flexible hose which when the level of the liquid of larger specific gravity changes communicates at all times with this liquid. The float may be an annular body and the section of the riser pipe having the scale can be located inside the annular boyd in the form of a spiral.
