The electric-resistance welding machine secures parallel wires (8) to a slender plate (7), and may be used to produce electric-telephone contacts. The plate (7) in strip form, and the wires are fed between two rollers (3, 4) which also serve as the electrodes. The plate-support roller (3) has an annularly segmental differentially yielding surface with abutting copper rings (15) mounting on supple rings (14). Dimensional tolerances are, thus, taken up by the plate (7) deforming under the action of this roller (3), and uniform wire (8) to plate (7) contact obtains. The plate-support roller (3) may have circumferential ribs (18) at fixed intervals with two copper rings (15) between each rib. In cross section the rings (14, 15) and the roller core (13) may have serrated interfaces (16, 17). The serrations maintain the components in mutual rotation despite ring displacements. Floating brushes (27) may be used to feed current to each copper ring.
|
