The external and internal speed indicator signals to the driver, other vehicles and traffic police if a vehicle is exceeding the authorised speed limit and consists of two sets of three indicators (4-9) attached to the front and back of the vehicle respectively. The indicators in each set light up successively as set speeds are exceeded. The indicators are connected to the vehicle battery (1) through a make-and-break switch, and are of different colours and intensity depending on which speed is being exceeded. The indicator control consists of a sectored disc connected to the speedometer which can occult a lamp. On the axis of the lamp is a photodiode which normally conducts a transistor amplified current, the speed of rotation of the disc producing different currents.
