An orthopaedic casting tape is made by (A) mixing reactant resin-forming materials together in liquid form to initiate curing, (B) wetting a tape uniformly along its length with the mixt. and (C) removing any excess liq. from the tape, at least steps (B) and (C) being carried out in a closed container and the tape being in rolled form within the container after step (C). A single-use appts. for carrying out the process is also provided. The appts. can be provided with preproportioned resin-forming components and a spool of tape, and the operative merely has to activate the components. No skill is reqd. and the process is not messy. One resin-forming component is pref. a diisocyanate and the other is a polyol contg. a catalyst. the diisocyanate is pref. methylene diphenyl diisocyanate. The polyol is pref. the reaction prod. of glycerine and propylene oxide.
|
