<p>The mixt. consists of (I) a long chain water-sol. nonionic surfactant, e.g. alkoxylated 8-15C primary alcohols, alkoxylated 10-15C secondary alcohols or alkoxylated 7-9C alky phenols, having an HLB of 11. 7-17 and (II) a short chain water-sol. nonionic cosurfactant e.g. alkoxylated 8-11C primary alcohols., alkoxylated 10-15C secondary alcohols or alkoxylates 7-8C alkyl phenols, having an HLB of 7-10. 5, (I) + (II) having an HLB of 10-12. 5. Although the mixt. is suitable for removing oil from any surface, the speed at which it acts renders it esp. suitable for use in household (polyester) textile detergent compsns. (I) is of formula R-O-(CyH2yO)a-(CzH2zO)b-CwH2wOH (where R may be primary/secondary/branched alkyl/alkenyl (-substd phenol), w, y and z are pref. 2 and a and b are 0-11, a + b being 4-11). R, when a primary alcohol, pref. contains 10-13C, when a secondary alcohol pref. 10-13C and when it is an alkyl gp. substituting a phenol, pref. contains 8C.</p> |
