Cleaning of disc filters to remove sludge, spent cake etc. from their surface consists of a curved arm which can be rotated in the space between adjoining discs. The upper and lower surfaces of the arm have flexible and elastic projections which contact the filter surface. This elastic part forms in effect a brush which causes its components to move across the filter surface when the arm is moved. In this way an effective but relatively gentle cleaning action is achieved. The shape of the arm ensures that sludge so removed is propelled to edge of the disc, where it can fall off into a sump, etc. Used to clean filter disc filters for pressure filtration. The system permits effective cleaning without opening the filter and without damaging the filter medium or reducing its filtration efficiency.
|
