<p>1381017 Building material TEKOLOGY CORP 23 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 24082/72 Heading C1H A building or structural product is prepared by forming a mouldable composition comprising spent oil shale ash and water, moulding the composition at 600-6000 p.s.i., and curing under ambient conditions. An alkaline earth metal chloride, e.g. CaCl 2 and MgCl 2 , a trivalent earth metal chloride, e.g. AlCl 3 and FeCl 3 and HCl may be added to the water. Prior to curing, the product may be allowed to stand in a humidity saturated atmosphere, e.g. at 100-150‹ F. for, e.g. 24-72 hours. An hydraulic cement, e.g. Portland or pozzolana may be added to the composition. The examples describe compositions containing (i) the ash, Portland cement and aqueous calcium chloride, (ii) the ash, sand and water, (iii) the ash and aqueous CaCl 2 , (iv) the ash and aqueous hydrochloric acid and (v) the ash, spent oil shale and aqueous calcium chloride solution.</p> |
