PURPOSE:To disperse the fine particles of the TiN having a small coefft. of thermal expansion into the crystal grains of the MgO matrix and to obtain the ceramics composite material which is excellent in strength, thermal impact resistance, etc., by mixing MgO and TiN pulverized to a prescribed particle size or below and calcining the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The MgO pulverized to <=5mum particle size and the TiN pulverized to <=2mum particle size are mixed. The powder mixture is calcined, by which the ceramics composite material dispersed with the fine particles of the TiN which is smaller in the coefft. of thermal expansion than the matrix stock and have <=2mum particle size in the crystal grains of the MgO matrix having 0.5 to 100mum crystal particles is obtd. The excellent characteristics, such as high temp. strength and fracture toughness, are imparted to the composite material by taking advantage of the excellent characteristics, such as heat resistance and corrosion resistance, of the MgO. The resulted composite material is useful as the structural material which can be used at high temp. |
