The process for joining two or more wooden structural components using wooden dowel plugs inserted in holes, is esp. applicable to external walls and interior elements in house construction, using prefab. components for rapid erection. The wooden components are first imbued with a moisture content exceeding that associated with normal climatic conditions in the building. The moisture content of the dowel plugs is reduced to a lower level, before their insertion. Assembly provides more durable retention.
