The convertible chair-bed has a cushion support (9) which is mounted in the frame (1) to turn about an axis (14) which runs along the front side of the frame so that the support (9) can be locked in at least two positions against any downwards movement. When converting the bed to the chair the support (9) is brought into a lower position where the seat cushion (11) occupies a rearwardly inclined position. When the device is used as a bed, a two section slide is drawn out from underneath the seat of the chair. A part of the seat cushion (12) and the chair back cushion (13) then unfold along the length of the slide. The sliding sections are separately supported on castors (8, 9). The cushion support (9) is held in its upper position.
