<p>Appts. for the automatic distribution or reception of articles, esp. articles of clothing coming from a laundry or dry cleaning plant, comprises (a) an inviseable storage area enclosed by a wall having an aperture for transferring the articles from a conveyor which carries a series of such articles along a path passing a transfer station at that aperture, (b) a sorting device comprising an inviolable enclosure at the transfer station, with lateral, upper and lower walls surrounding the transfer aperture during transfer of the article. (c) a separating device having a normally locked door covering the transfer opening and a rear wall closing off the interior of this enclosure to isolate the articles, stopped at the transfer station and present in the enclosure, from those adjacent to them on the conveyor to prevent theft and (d) a coding device comprising coded indices on the conveyor for establishing a distinction between different articles, as well as an automatic control unit which can be started up from outside the wall at the transfer aperture, for the selective recovery of any particular article in accordance with the code, and the displacement of such articles carried on the conveyor to a stop at the transfer station followed by the actuation of the storting and separating devices so as to deposit the articles automatically in storage area for subsequent automatic recovery by a self-service process started up by the coded identification elements of the client introduced by him into the automatic control units. Evice provides a relatively simple system in which the articles of clothing are supported on conventional cheap wire hangers and are suspended 'front to back' i.e. trasnverseley to the conveyor, instead of parallel to the conveyor or supported on special types of hanger.</p> |
