The equipment has two air bags in the cuff, one (11) to compress the artery and another (13) to detect the Korotkoff sounds. In contrast to the conventional series connection to the air line, the bag that detects the sounds is connected over a throttled section of tubing (19), and has a separate connection to its (pref. crystal) microphone (21); the other bag is connected to a pressure transducer (25). The Korotkoff microphone preferably has an AC amplier (22), and the pressure transducer an AC amplifier (26) for the pulse rate, and a DC amplifier (27) for the pressure.
