The fastening device has a chuck (1) for accommodating a shank (20). There are corresponding reference surfaces on the device and shank in order to fix the height and angular position of the shank. An end face of the device and a bolt (5) arranged on the end face and parallel to the axis of the chuck (1) form the reference surfaces of the device for height and angle, while the shank (20) has a radially projecting pin (21) which can be pressed by means of a spring-loaded clamping member (6) against end face and bolt (5). The clamping member can be a clamping lever (6) which is rotatably mounted at the side of the bolt (5) and has a wedge surface in order to overlap the pin (21) with this wedge surface. To adjust the zero mark for the angle, the bolt (5) can be rotatably mounted and locked in the wall of the chuck (1) by means of a stem eccentric to its axis. A fastening device of simple design, in particular for electrical discharge machine tools, is thus created. <IMAGE>
