The invention relates to a punching device for punching notches in the edge of a card or the like. The punch is mounted in a housing and is moveable from a retracted position within the housing to an operating position to punch a notch in the edge of a card adjacent an outside surface of the housing. The punch may comprise a member which pivots downwardly from the retracted position to the operating position over an upper edge of the card.
