<p>Mould for casting a lantern-shaped frame, esp. a lantern frame with a four-sided truncated pyramid shape where the sides taper upwards to a solid top (a). The mould has a tapered core mounted on a baseplate fitted with four hinges, each carrying one side wall of the mould which are swung inwards and combined with a top plate for casting. The hinges for the side walls pref. consists of four horizontal rods forming a square; and the baseplate pref. has vertical guide rods along which the core can be moved vertically. The mould is pref. made of metal parts which form grooves and/or pegs for holding glass- or plastic-panes used in each side wall of the lantern. The core and/or the mould walls can pref. be heated; and the walls can be moved on their hinges via a motor or manually. Rapid, simple and economic casting of a monolithic lantern frame where the mould can be opened to eject the casting.</p> |
