The pull out element is for two plates coupled to each other such as table leaves with its bearing on a support such as kitchen furniture. Guides are provided along which the plates are located one behind the other in the drawn out position, and one above the other in the closed position. The guides are adjustable and fitted with a lifting link which lifts the rear plate to the same level as the front plate when drawn out. The lifting link includes a sloping cam surface which is engaged by the rear plate as it is drawn out. This lifts the edge of the plate up to the level of the front plate. The rear of the rear plate is supported on a small wheel which runs up a corresponding inclined runner to raise it to the required level.
