1507582 Television display apparatus INDUSTRIE A ZANUSSI SpA 20 Feb 1976 [27 Feb 1975] 06840/76 Heading H4T The apparatus is designed so that it can be switched between operation as a conventional colour television receiver and operation in which symbols from a symbol generator, e.g. a television game-playing unit, are displayed. The apparatus includes a tuning unit 7 which passes signals from an aerial 6 to a detector unit 8. The detector feeds the received audio signal via a switch 12 to a loudspeaker 14. It also feeds chroma signals via a switch 15 to a chroma processor 16 which includes a sub-carrier generator 17. The processor passes colour difference and luminance signals to a decoder 22 which feeds colour signals to the display 26. Time base signals from the detector 8 pass via a switch 27 to sync separator 28 which feeds line and frame sync signals to oscillators 29, 30 connected to deflection circuits 31, 32. The symbol generator 34 is associated with a manual control unit 35. It receives the sub-carrier from generator 17 and emits sync and audio signals and also three colour signals which are fed to the display 26 via decoupling units 44-46. When a switch 33' is manually moved from contact a, in which the apparatus operates as a conventional receiver, to contact b the tuning unit 7 is disabled, the symbol generator enabled and switch 27 reversed. The sync output from the symbol generator now passes to sync separator 28. This output also causes switch 12 to be reversed, so that the audio output of the symbol generator passes to the loudspeaker, and switch 15 to apply a reference black level signal to the processor 16. The generated symbols now appear on the display. The generator may be built in to the apparatus or may be in the form of a plug-in card unit. Switch 12 may be omitted. Switches 15 and 27 and the decoupling units may be constituted by transistor circuits, Figs. 2-4 (not shown). |
