发明名称 METHOD OF CREATING AN EMBOSSED PATTERN EFFECT ON TUFTED CARPET MATERIAL
摘要
1508012 Embossing tufted pile ARMSTRONG CORK CO 14 March 1975 [14 March 1974] 10803/75 Headings D1P and D1S A synthetic tufted carpet material has an embossed pattern effect created thereon by application to the tufted pile face surface yarns of a latent solvent embossing agent in solution in a predetermined concentration in the desired embossing pattern in a quantity thoroughly to wet the yarns in the pattern for at least 35% of the length of the portion projecting above the backing, and subsequently steaming to shrink the treated yarns and develop the embossed pattern effect. The surface yarns comprise a major proportion of synthetic semicrystalline, oriented, thermoplastics fibres such as nylon 6, nylon 66, acrylic or polyester fibres. The latent solvent solution is a solution e.g. in water of an embossing agent for the fibres e.g. zinc chloride or resorcinol for nylon fibres, phenol for polyester fibres or ethylene carbonate for acrylic fibres. The concentration at which the solution is applied is arranged to be such that the concentration on the pile yarns, just prior to steaming, is less than, but more than 40% of, the "destructive concentration" of the solution at which the fibre structure would be destroyed by the latent solvent upon subsequent steaming. The carpet may be dyed and/or printed before and/or simultaneously with the embossing treatment, preferably by design elements which are in registry with each other and with the embossing pattern. After steaming, the carpet is washed, cleaned and dried. The backing of the carpet is of a different material from the surface yarn e.g. a polypropylene, which is unaffected by the latent solvent solution.
