The heat exchanger has two header boxes provided for the inflow and outflow of a fluid. Three walls of each header box consist of an extruded U-section. The wall thicknesses of the U-section are of different sizes and are designed such that it is possible to achieve a maximum capacity for static loading by internal pressure in conjunction with a minimum outlay on material. By contrast with header boxes made from bent sheet metal, this design has the advantage that it can be produced from material of higher strength, and that the outer walls can be constructed flat over a larger area, which permits larger tube connecting pieces. <IMAGE> |
