1,272,547. Heat activatable adhesive tapes. SESAME INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 May, 1969 [10 May, 1968], No. 57162/70. Divided out of 1,268,494. Heading B2E. A tape comprises two bonded layers, the first consisting of a plurality of longitudinally extending - filaments embedded in a resin matrix, the second being of a hot-melt adhesive, the first layer being dry and non-tacky at substantially higher than the softening temperature of the adhesive, which adhesive is dry and non-tacky below 150‹F, and softens to adhesive consistency at 250-350‹F, the adhesive comprising a low molecular weight resinous material mixed with a high molecular weight polymer, the resinous material being coumorone-indene, alkyld, terpene, or phenolformaldehyde resins. The filaments may be of cotton, rayon, polyester, or polyamide and the resin matrix may be of polyvinyl chloride, cellulose acetate, polymethyl methacrylate or polystyrene. The polymer may be ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene or polyamide. |
