A rotating brush motor is used which may be powered from either an A.C. or D.C. source, the design also allowing it to operate in a fixed brush mode. The design provides a sparkless contact at the brushes and has a high efficiency due to the elimination of contra-electromotive forces. The motor also has two fixed brushes carrying excitation current and two pole types. The principle poles are 'T' shaped and have associated auxiliary switching poles separated from the principle poles by shallow slots. The coil windings on each of the poles are connected in parallel, both parallel pairs being connected together in series. Rotating brushes (4, 5) are used. |
