A heavy duty cable is designed so that it is possible to strip the semiconductor layer without damaging the insulating substrate. The cable consists of an internal conductor which is surrounded by an insulation. The insulation is surrounded by a layer of semiconductor material which can be stripped. The semiconductor material is surrounded by a moisture protecting metallic sheath. The protective sheath (5) consists of a thin metallic layer (5a) and a polymer layer on one side of the material. The bonding force between the semi-conductor layer (4) and the protective sheath (5) is stronger than the bonding force between the semiconductor layer and the insulation.
