Hollow modular roofing slabs comprise a combination of a support panel which can bridge between roof rafters and a cover which can enclose a block of insulating material and provide a lip for partially overlapping an adjacent block. The slabs are suitable for steep or shallow sloping roofs, e.g. >=10% slope. The panels provide a high degree of thermal insulation and weather sealing, are light enough for large roof span structures. The panels may be assembled from prefabricated base and cover units or derived from hollow profiles made by extrusion or blow moulding. The panels may be made from polyolefin glass-reinforced polyester, acrylic, polyester or phenolic resin or pref. PVC. The insulation is pref. a block of polyurethane foam either generated in situ or prefabricated and inserted as a push fit.
