The top linkage for a vehicle shock absorber, for a wheel with independent MacPherson type suspension consists of two steel cupels (7, 8) separated by a helical spring (6), the bottom cupel being attached to the case (1) of the shock absorber. Inside the top cupel is a steel or synthetic concave element (4), coated on the internal surface with an anti-adherent surfacing such as Teflon (RTM) which can rotate about a metal spherical cupel (15) fixed (13) to the vehicle frame. A rubber plub (16) is fixed by its external surface to the inside of the spherical cupel and it is traversed by a cylindrical muff (17) through which the shaft (18) of the shock absorber locates. Underneath the top cupel is a rubber shock stopper (19). The spherical cupel supports the static and dynamic forces and the rubber plug absorbs the vibrations from the wheel.
|
