Double shaft mixer for ceramic materials - with easy adjustment of mixing length using insertable screw elements

Double shaft mixer consists of a trough contg. a pair of mixer elements on rotating shafts. On the front end of the shafts in the direction of motion of the material are a pair of screw elements which serve to homogenise and compress the material being processed. They lie at the end of the mixing trough and are surrounded by a jacket at a certain distance. On the outlet side is an evacuatable chamber. The screw element together with the jacket surrounding it consists of several (at least two) detachable shells. There are screwed or bolted onto the mixer shaft. The effective compression zone can then be extended by inserting more elements into the device. The screws are mounted on the shaft while the jacket, also in several parts is mounted around the outside of the trough. Arrangement is for use in mixers with vacuum deaeration of the product esp. for ceramic materials such as clay, kaolin or claylike masses. Rapid modification for different products is possible.
