Duck board for sealed structures e.g. flat roofs - comprising two-ply laminate of closed-cell foam base and filled plastics film top layer

Duck board, i.e., a panel which can be walked upon, for a sealed substructure e.g., a flat roof, comprises a laminate of an elastic, closed-cellular, foam substrate and a thermoplastics film top lamina contg. additives e.g., filler(s). The foam stratum is pref. 10-30 mm. thick and comprises a continuously mfd., crosslinked, polyethylene foam, apparent density 25-100 kg./m3. The top lamina is pref. a bitumen-compatible film, 0.8-3 mm. thick, made of a compsn. of 10-25 wt.% EP rubber, 10-50% bitumen, =10% other polyolefin, 20-75% filler(s). The film lamina is bonded to the foam base pref. by flame-coating process. The prod. may be fixed tothe roof by the same method. Alternatively, it may be adhesively bonded. A roof, terrace or similar structure can be walked upon e.g., for cleaning, without damaging it or the sealing (caulking) when the board is used as pathway.
