Small three-phase generator with rectified output - operates with diode heat sinks on radial plate and has axial flow of cooling air

The rectifier assembly is located inside the machine housing. The positive and negative DC busbars are arranged in concentric rings (15, 16) on the outer and inner edges of a circular insulation plate (11). This plate also carries the heat sinks (10) on which the diodes are mounted. There are cut away portions in the plate (11) leaving spokes (19, 21) to which the heat sinks are attached. Each heat sinks has channels passing through it from one side to the other so that cooling air can blow through axially. Additional ribs are also provided to give extra cooling surface. Some of the spokes on the insulation plate may be flanged (21) to give added isolation between adjacent heat sinks.
