The iron circuit consists of two elements shaped like arcs of circle concentrical with the point of rotation, and of straight yokes connecting them. It carries a fixed, a. c. supplied excitation winding, an out put winding, and a movable short-circuiting winding. The circular elements (3,3') extend over an angle of at least 270 deg. and their free ends are connected to straight elements (4, 4',5,5') parallel to a radius. Each two of these elements are connected by yoked (6,6'). Excitation and output windings (7,7';8,8') are on the straight elements.
